In November 2006, we were asked to develop an automated system for grabbing orders from the LastMinute.com server. LastMinute.com were supplying online restaurant and takeaway food ordering services. Customers could choose the type of food, i.e. Chinese, Italian or Indian and the location, and order and pay for the food online. The processed orders were then faxed to the selected restaurant or takeaway. However, the faxes were being queued whenever the fax line was busy and orders were delayed and even lost. It was a real mess and LastMinute.com had, at great expense, to employ a Customer Services phone line to verify orders had been received and answer queries. It was losing money fast. It was decided to use a computer to computer program, with no human intervention. It could also work 24/7.
The LastMinute.com server could not export data, so we were asked to develop a system that would interrogate their server every two minutes to check for new orders. When a new order was found, it was immediately sent to the relevant restaurant or takeaway. They all had a copy of our software and the orders were immediately listed on their PC for cooking and delivery. We also included an audable warning to inform the restaurant, an order had been received.

As long ago as 2006, we were writing .NET software to interrogate a server. We have since worked with Cybertill, OGL Computer Services Group, Fourth Hospitality and OPTA. We are used to developing complicated and powerful .NET C# systems linked to a server, PC, laptop or mobile phone. We welcome enquiries from all types of industry or applications.
